Cordblood Banking

Over the years, many of my couples approached me to present my classes on video, because they wanted to buy it for other couples, review it again at their own pace and in the convenience of their own home or be updated on new developments in preparation for childbirth. Finally, their wish came to reality in the form of this 4 1/2 hour video class.

My video 'Laugh and Learn About Childbirth' is the only complete childbirth course on the market. I cover all aspects of labor and delivery, including pain relieving options, as well as the entire Lamaze training - including one breathing technique and natural childbirth. My classes are taught in 6 easy to watch lessons.

I believe humor is the best way to teach any subject. You will always remember it easier and over a longer period of time. This is what makes my classes so special.

In this video I brought 5 pregnant couples into a studio and taught them a complete Lamaze Class as well as everything else they needed to know about childbirth. The information I share includes labor and delivery, medications offered in labor, cesarean delivery as well as all the breathing techniques. Today, in addition of being a natural childbirth class, Lamaze is a complete preparation for childbirth.

How many times do you find yourself not understanding what your physician is talking about? Sometimes Doctors can use words and phrases that are confusing to you. This is one of the most important events of your life. I explain to you what your doctor is talking about. After my class you will be better informed about what is happening with you and your baby.

Knowledge is power and my video will help you to figure out the labor and delivery process as well as empower you to make informed decisions concerning your birth. You will learn what to expect and how to ask for what you want.

Following are some of the most common questions that I hear every day regarding labor and delivery and childbirth classes. I hope you will find the answers to some of yours.

What kinds of childbirth classes are there, and how much do they cost?
There are 3 different kinds of classes. One is Lamaze, which is the most standard. Another is Bradley. This is a non-interventionary approach and needs a lot of husband coaching. It’s the most “Granola-Nola” The third is XICEA, which is an off-shoot of Lamaze. Cost can vary depending on where you live. Big cities are more expensive, small towns are cheaper. Generally you can expect to find a trained childbirth educator for anywhere between $100 - $250 per program.

When should I start taking classes?

It is recommended the class should end 2 – 4 weeks before the baby is due. That’s in case the baby is early you’re prepared, yet not so far in the past that the information you learned is forgotten.

At what point during labor should I go to the hospital?
Most Doctors would like you to show up when the contractions are 3 – 5 minutes apart, or when your water has broken and it’s green!

How painful is labor anyway?
The classic analogy we make is somewhere to passing a kidney stone, or 500thousand times worse than your worst menstrual cramps.

Are you certified or affiliated with any organization?
I am a certified Lamaze Educator as well as a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Basically my job revolves around babies and boobs.

As the partner, why should I take a childbirth class?
Because you don’t want to be the guy standing in the corner watching your wife in pain and not having the foggiest idea on what to do about it. Knowledge is power!

I have had a C-section before, can I have a vaginal delivery, and will a childbirth class help?
Yes you can, as long as the incision is across your tummy. It’s called a V-bac which is an acronym for vaginal birth after cesarean. However this is something you must discuss with your doctor. There is a whole section on cesarean deliveries in my video, including reasons for a C-section as well as recovery from a C-section.

I already attended a childbirth class, why should I get one on video?
A second timer often wants a refresher to remind them of what they learned the first time. The video makes it much more convenient, without the cost of a babysitter and the time it takes to go to classes.

How will I know for sure when my labor starts?
I can guarantee on my nurse’s license that when labor begins, you’ll know! It may take you a few hours to figure it out, but you won’t be standing in your living room, staring at the floor, screaming, “The baby just came out of me! Did anyone see what happened here?”
